Tronic Universal Switch Socket Twin 16A

Our review

This is a twin universal switch socket rated to a 16A requirement, made by Tronic. In plain terms, it is the wall fitting that takes a plug and feeds power through, and the twin layout means two outlets sit on one unit, which suits spots where several devices need power nearby, such as a kitchen counter, a workbench, an office desk or a shop counter. The universal design means it accepts different plug shapes rather than one standard, so it is a practical pick if your appliances and chargers come from mixed sources. The safety shutters are the detail worth noting, since they block the live openings until a plug is inserted, which matters in homes with small children. Before buying, check the wiring in the wall and the load you intend to run, because a 16A rating sets the ceiling for what the circuit should carry, and a heavy appliance such as a water heater or air conditioner may need its own dedicated point rather than sharing a twin socket. Also confirm the box depth and plate size suit your wall, and that your electrician is happy with the terminals. Compared with a single socket, this gives you two points from one opening, but it also concentrates more load in one place, so do not overload it. Compared with a switched single unit, you lose individual control per outlet unless the circuit has its own switch. It is available on Sokonia, and a qualified electrician should handle installation.
