Tronic 1 Gang 13A Socket with Neon Indicator, Black

Our review

This is a single 13A wall socket from Tronic, finished in black and fitted with a neon indicator that lights up while the socket is live. That small light is the practical draw: it tells you at a glance whether power is reaching the outlet, which helps when you are tracing a dead circuit or switching off the right breaker before working on it. The black finish suits dark walls, workbenches and commercial fit-outs where white plastic would stand out. It is aimed at anyone wiring or replacing a point in a home or business, and at electricians matching an existing black accessory range. Before buying, confirm the mounting box and wiring in your wall suit a standard single socket, and check whether you want the neon on a switched or unswitched point, since that changes how you use it day to day. Compare it with plain sockets of the same rating if the indicator is not important to you, and with metal-clad or shuttered versions if the location is exposed or used by children.
