Tronic Grey Double Pole Switch with Neon, 45 Amps

Our review

This is a grey double pole switch from Tronic, rated at 45 amps and fitted with a neon indicator. The 45A rating is the part that matters most: it is the size normally chosen for high-draw appliances such as large ovens and water heaters, where a standard lighting or socket switch would not cope. Because it is double pole, it breaks both the live and neutral connections, which lets you isolate an appliance completely rather than leaving one side live. That makes it a sensible choice for anyone wiring a dedicated circuit for a heavy appliance at home, in a rental property, or in a small office or kitchen where equipment needs a proper local isolator. The neon indicator is a practical touch, since it shows at a glance whether the circuit is on, which helps when you are working on or servicing whatever is connected. The smooth edges and shiny face are cosmetic details, but they mean it will not look out of place on a visible wall. Before buying, check the current rating your appliance actually needs, confirm the switch fits the mounting arrangement you have, and make sure the wiring method suits your setup. If your appliance draws less, a lower-rated double pole switch may be cheaper and easier to fit; if it draws more or the load is industrial, look at a higher-rated isolator instead. Installation should be done by someone competent with mains wiring. Available on Sokonia.
