JBL Bar 800 MK2 7.1 Channel Dolby Atmos Soundbar with Detachable Wireless Speakers

Our review

The JBL Bar 800 MK2 is a 7.1 channel soundbar system built around Dolby Atmos, with a 780W RMS power rating. Its standout design choice is a pair of detachable wireless surround speakers: they run without extra wires or power connections, so you can position them beside or behind your seating rather than being tied to the main bar. That makes it a sensible fit for a living room where running cable to the back is awkward, or for renters who want real surround without installation work.
Before buying, think about your room. Detachable rears only pay off if you have somewhere to put them, ideally at or slightly above ear height and roughly symmetrical. Check that your TV or source supports Dolby Atmos passthrough, since the bar's immersive effect depends on the signal it receives. Also measure your TV stand or wall space, as a 7.1 bar with separate rears takes more room than a single-unit alternative.
Compared with all-in-one soundbars that simulate surround from one chassis, this system trades convenience for more convincing placement flexibility. Against separates, it avoids an amplifier and speaker wiring. If you mainly watch dialogue-heavy TV, a simpler bar may be enough; if films and games matter, the detachable rears are the reason to choose this one. Available on Sokonia.
