Our review
This is a 6mm three-core flexible cable from Tronic, supplied as a 100-metre length. The conductors are 99.9% pure copper and the insulation is PVC, and the cable is manufactured in Tanzania. The combination of a 6mm cross-section and three cores makes it a common choice for heavier fixed wiring where a live, neutral and earth are all needed in one run, such as connecting a cooker, water heater or small submain. It suits electricians, contractors and anyone wiring a building who wants a locally made cable in a full drum rather than short cut lengths. Before buying, confirm that 6mm is the size your circuit requires, since the current a cable can carry depends on its cross-sectional area, the installation method and the protective device, and check that three cores is what your wiring plan calls for rather than two. Also think about whether 100 metres covers your longest run with enough left for routing and terminations. Compared with ordinary two-core flexible cable, this gives you a separate earth conductor; compared with single-core cable, it simplifies a three-wire run into one sheath. It is available on Sokonia.
