Tronic Golden Desktop Pop-Up Box with 2x RJ45 CAT6 Data Modules

Our review

This is a desk-mounted pop-up box from Tronic, finished in gold, with a lid that rises slowly rather than snapping open. Inside, two RJ45 CAT6 data modules come already fitted, so the unit is meant to bring network ports up to desk level instead of leaving cables trailing across the work surface. It suits anyone planning a fixed workstation, a meeting table or a reception counter where ethernet points need to be close at hand but hidden when not in use. Before buying, check the cutout size your desk or counter can take, since the box is designed to sit flush once installed, and confirm that CAT6 matches the cabling and switch you already run. Compare it with plain grommets, which are cheaper but only pass cables through, and with larger pop-up units that mix power and data, which may be more than you need if you only require network connections. Also weigh the gold finish against the rest of your hardware if appearance matters.
