Tronic Dark Grey 2W Step Light, Surface-Mounted

Our review

This is a low-output step light from Tronic, finished in dark grey metal with a modest, understated look that suits either a front or back garden. At 2 watts it is meant for marking edges rather than lighting a whole path, so it fits steps, walkways and low walls where you want a gentle guide after dark. The main draw is the super-slim surface mounting: instead of cutting into masonry for a recessed fitting, you fix it on top of the surface, which is far less disruptive on finished steps or brickwork. Before buying, check the width of your step or wall edge against the fitting, and confirm how you will run cable to each point, since surface-mounted lights sit proud of the surface and wiring is often visible. Also think about spacing and how many you need to cover a run evenly. Compared with recessed step lights, this is the easier retrofit; compared with solar stake lights, it needs a wired supply but gives more consistent output. Available on Sokonia.
