Tronic Auto Shutter Fan 150mm

Our review

This is a 150mm wall ventilation fan from Tronic, fitted with an auto shutter that closes when the unit is off. Its job is straightforward: pull stale, humid or smoky air out of a room and push it outside, which makes it most useful in kitchens, bathrooms and other enclosed spaces where moisture and cooking odours build up. It suits a household that wants constant background extraction rather than a portable appliance moved from room to room. Before buying, measure the existing wall opening or duct sleeve, since a 150mm fan will not fit a smaller hole without modification, and confirm whether your wall is brick, block or panel, as that affects how it is mounted and sealed. Think about how you will switch it on, and whether the auto shutter matters for your setup, for example where backdraught or insects are a concern. Compared with a basic fixed-grille extractor, the shutter adds a closing barrier when idle; compared with a ducted inline fan, it is simpler and occupies the wall itself. Check the cut-out size, the power supply available at the spot, and how the outside of the wall will be protected from rain before deciding.
