This is a five-metre Tronic USB cable built to the SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.1) specification. That rating matters most if you move large files between a computer and a peripheral such as a printer, external drive enclosure or dock, because the 10Gbps mode uses more effective data encoding and delivers more than twice the effective throughput of earlier SuperSpeed USB. The five-metre length suits setups where the device sits well away from the machine. Before buying, confirm the ports on both ends of your equipment support USB 3.1, since the cable is fully backward compatible but will only run at the slower rate of an older port.
