Tronic Gold 1-Gang 13A Switched Socket with Neon, Double Pole

Our review

This is a single-gang 13A switched socket from Tronic, finished in gold with a screwless front plate and a neon indicator. Because it is double pole, it switches both live and neutral, which is worth knowing if you want a cleaner break when isolating whatever is plugged in. The metal plate and polycarbonate body suggest it is aimed at buyers who care about how a socket looks as much as how it performs, so it suits living rooms, bedrooms, offices or rental units where visible fittings matter. Before ordering, check the wiring in your wall and the depth of your back box, since a metal-plate accessory can need a little more room than a basic plastic one. Also confirm your circuit is earthed and that a double-pole switch is what you actually want; single-pole sockets are the more common and usually cheaper alternative. If you are matching finishes across a room, compare the gold tone with your other accessories first, as metallic finishes vary between ranges. The neon gives a simple visual cue that the switch is on, which can be handy in a dark corner or for a appliance you leave running. Available on Sokonia.
