The features that matter most day to day are the auto keep-warm function, which holds the jug at temperature after the cycle ends, and boil-dry protection, which cuts the element if the water runs out. The 30-second anti-drip function lets you pull the jug mid-brew to pour a cup without coffee running onto the hotplate, and the rotary funnel swings out for filling and rinsing. A permanent nylon filter and a measuring spoon come in the box, so paper filters are not strictly required. Before buying, think about how many cups you actually drink in one sitting: ten cups is generous for a household of three or four, but if you usually brew one or two mugs, a smaller machine will take up less counter space and keep coffee fresher.
