The six-point opening grips flat sides of a fastener rather than corners, which matters on a size like 23mm where rounded bolt heads are a real risk. Heat treatment and black nickel plating are the two finish details Ingco lists, both aimed at wear resistance over repeated use. It suits someone filling a gap in a 1/2" set, or a mechanic who needs this specific size for suspension, hub or machinery work. Before buying, confirm your ratchet or bar is 1/2" drive, since a 3/8" tool will not fit. Also check whether you need six-point or twelve-point, and whether a deep or standard depth socket clears the fastener. Compare against other 23mm sockets on drive size, point count and finish, and against buying a full set if you need several sizes.
