Ingco 3HP Submersible Sewage Pump SPDB22008, 2200W

Our review
This Ingco pump is built for moving dirty water rather than clean supply, so it suits flooded basements, septic or sewage pits, construction dewatering and similar jobs where solids and debris are present. The 2200W motor runs on 220-240V at 50Hz, pushes water to a maximum head of 13 metres and a maximum flow rate of 38 cubic metres per hour, and the 3-inch pipe diameter tells you it is meant for volume, not for narrow garden lines. The built-in cutting blade is the detail worth noting: it helps deal with the kind of material that would clog an ordinary drainage pump, which is exactly why this class of pump exists. The pump body is stainless steel while the motor housing is cast iron, and the motor uses copper wire. A 9-metre cable and a control box for protection are included, which matters because submersible pumps are often installed well away from a power point. Before buying, work out your actual head, not just the depth: every metre of vertical lift plus friction in the pipe reduces flow, so a 13m maximum head is a ceiling, not a working figure. Check that your pipework matches the 3-inch outlet and that your supply can handle the motor's draw. Compare against lighter 1HP or 1.5HP dirty-water pumps if your pit is shallow and the water is only mildly gritty; step up to this 3HP unit when you need real flow and solids handling. Also weigh cast iron and stainless construction against plastic-bodied alternatives, which are cheaper but less suited to rough duty. Available on Sokonia.
