The plates are removable via a release button and coated non-stick, which makes cleaning far less fiddly than fixed-plate machines. It runs at 1300W with thermostatic control and a temperature light, and there is a safety thermal cut-out and thermal fuse. It suits a household making rounds of toasties at once, or someone who wants one countertop appliance for both jobs. Before buying, check your cupboard space: it measures 41.4 x 31 x 15.4 cm and weighs 4.33 kg, so it is not a small unit. Compare against fixed-plate four-slice makers, which cost less but are harder to clean, and against dedicated contact grills, which usually lack sandwich-cut plates.
