Panasonic DVD-S500GC Progressive Scan DVD/CD Player with USB

Our review
The Panasonic DVD-S500GC is a straightforward disc player for anyone who still keeps DVDs and CDs in rotation, or who wants a simple way to put USB media on a TV. Progressive scan output aims to keep film-based DVDs looking smooth on compatible screens, and Dolby Digital decoding handles the audio side of movie discs. The USB port lets you view photos and other content from a memory device, which is handy for slideshows on a larger screen. Before buying, note that there is no HDMI port, so you will need a TV with the matching analogue connections. It is also worth comparing against Blu-ray players if you want HD discs, or a streaming stick if most of your viewing is online. The dust-proof design suggests it is built for everyday use in less-than-pristine rooms.
