Our review
The Sony WH-1000XM5 is a closed, dynamic over-ear headphone with Bluetooth wireless audio and active noise cancellation. At roughly 250g it sits in the lighter end of full-size headphones, and the single-sided detachable cord means wired listening is possible without a permanently attached cable. The 30mm driver units are smaller than those in many over-ear rivals, so if you prioritise deep, physical bass, compare carefully against larger-driver alternatives. It suits commuters, open-plan office users and frequent flyers who want noise cancelling without a bulky feel. Before buying, check the fit around your ears and head, confirm how you prefer to control playback, and decide whether you need a case or spare cables, since none are listed here. Compare battery claims, multipoint pairing and app-based EQ against other premium noise-cancelling models, because those are the areas where this category differs most. Available on Sokonia.
