Tronic 5ft Glass Daylight LED Tube (T8)

Our review

This is a five-foot glass LED tube from Tronic, built in the familiar T8 shape so it can slot into fittings that would otherwise take a fluorescent tube. It gives out daylight, the cooler white tone that reads crisp and clean rather than warm or yellow. Because it is LED rather than fluorescent, it is the more energy-efficient and longer-lasting option of the two, and it does not need a separate starter in the way older tubes often do. It suits anyone lighting a shop, office, workshop, corridor or garage where a long, bright strip of light is more useful than a single bulb. Before buying, check the length of your existing fitting and whether it is a T8, since tube sizes are not interchangeable, and confirm the daylight colour temperature is what you want for the room. Compare it with other LED tubes on wattage and colour temperature, and with fluorescent tubes on running cost and lifespan. Available on Sokonia.
