Tronic HDMI Cable 5M with HDMI 1.4v Ethernet Channel

Our review
This is a five-metre HDMI cable from Tronic, built to the HDMI 1.4v specification. The detail worth noting is that 1.4v adds a data channel to the connection, so compatible devices can send and receive data over it at up to 100Mb/sec, the same channel IP-based applications use. That makes it a reasonable pick if you need a longer run between a source and a display and want the cable to carry that Ethernet-style traffic as well as the usual audio and video. Before buying, check the distance you actually need, since five metres is generous for a wall-mounted TV but awkward in a small setup, and confirm your devices support the 1.4v feature set if the data channel matters to you. Compared with shorter or older-spec cables, the extra length and the added channel are the main differences; if you only need a one-metre link between a player and a nearby screen, a basic cable would do the same job.
