Tronic Mercury E27 Bulb 250W
TSh 25,000
Our review
This is a high-intensity mercury vapour lamp from Tronic, rated at 250 watts and fitted with an E27 screw base. Inside the glass tube, metals and gases react to produce the orange-white glow many people associate with street lighting, and the output is large enough for outdoor areas where a lot of light is needed at once. It best suits buyers lighting yards, lanes, gates or security points, or replacing a failed lamp in an existing mercury fitting. Before ordering, check that your fixture is designed for a 250W mercury lamp and has an E27 socket, since ballast type and wattage must match. Compared with LED or sodium alternatives, mercury lamps are simpler and widely recognised, but they are not the most efficient choice, so weigh running cost against the low upfront outlay.
