Tronic Metal Halide E40 Bulb 400W
TSh 22,500
Our review
This is a 400-watt metal halide bulb from Tronic with an E40 screw base, the wide fitting used on many street and security light fixtures. Inside, metals and gases react to produce the orange-white light people associate with street lamps, and the output is high enough for large outdoor areas rather than a home interior. It suits someone replacing a bulb in an existing E40 floodlight or yard light, or maintaining a row of them on a property. Before buying, confirm your fitting is E40 and that the control gear is compatible with a 400W metal halide lamp, since these run on ballasts rather than mains voltage directly. Compare against LED alternatives if running cost matters, and against high-pressure sodium if you want a warmer tone.
