Tronic Modern Black Spotlight, GU10, Aluminium

Our review

This Tronic spotlight is a single black fixture built around a narrow cylinder shade, which gives it a more architectural look than a standard cone or bell-shaped spot. It runs on AC 220–240V and takes a GU10 base lamp, so the bulb is a separate purchase and the light output, beam angle and colour temperature will depend entirely on which GU10 you fit. At 170mm high and 60mm wide, it is fairly tall and slim, so it works well where you want a vertical accent rather than a wide wash of light. It suits someone lighting a specific point, such as a wall, artwork or counter, and who is happy to choose their own GU10 bulb. Before buying, check the ceiling or wall space for that 170mm drop, confirm your wiring is 220–240V, and decide whether you want a warm or cool GU10. Compare it with adjustable spots if you need to aim the beam, and with multi-head bars if one light point is not enough. The aluminium body and one-year warranty are worth weighing against plastic alternatives. Available on Sokonia.
