Tronic Retro G125 60W E27 Screw Bulb, 2000K Dimmable

Our review

This is a large globe-shaped bulb from Tronic, the G125 format, running at 60W with an E27 screw base. It is dimmable and produces a very warm 2000K light, the amber-toned glow people usually associate with vintage filament lamps, and it is rated for 220-240V at 50Hz. That warm colour is the main reason to choose it: it flatters wood, brick and dark interiors in a way cooler bulbs do not. It suits exposed fittings, pendants and wall sconces where the bulb itself is meant to be seen, and rooms where you want a relaxed evening atmosphere rather than bright task light. Before buying, check that your fitting takes an E27 screw cap and can physically accommodate a G125 globe, since these bulbs are noticeably wider than standard shapes. Also confirm your dimmer switch is compatible, because dimmable bulbs can behave unpredictably on older dimmers. Compared with smaller candle or standard globes, this one trades compactness for presence and a softer, warmer output, so it is a poor fit for reading lamps or anywhere you need crisp white light.
