Tronic Single Deep Galvanised Iron Switch Box for Flush Wall Mounting

Our review

This Tronic box is the metal enclosure that sits behind a single switch or socket outlet, buried in the wall so only the plate shows once the job is finished. It suits anyone wiring or renovating a room who wants the mounting point set into the plaster rather than surface-mounted, and it is a sensible pick when you are already running cable and want the wall to look tidy. The galvanised iron construction is the main thing to note, since it is a different material from the plastic back boxes many people are used to. Before buying, check the depth your switch or socket needs, confirm the wall cut-out matches the box, and make sure a single-gang size is what you actually want rather than a double. Compare it with plastic boxes, which are easier to cut and cheaper but less rigid, and with shallower metal boxes that can be tight once wiring is folded in. Available on Sokonia.
