Tronic Small Halogen Tube 1000W

Our review

This is a small halogen tube lamp rated at 1000 watts, sold under the Tronic brand. It works on the same principle as other tungsten halogen lamps: a tungsten filament sits inside a compact transparent envelope filled with an inert gas and a trace of halogen, which helps the filament cycle material back onto itself rather than simply blackening the glass. Because of that, these tubes hold their brightness better over their life than ordinary incandescent bulbs of similar wattage.
A 1000W tube is a serious output lamp, so it suits buyers who genuinely need that level of light or heat from a single fixture, such as work lights, floodlighting, or heating applications that call for a linear halogen source. It is not a sensible pick for everyday room lighting, where a lower-wattage lamp would do the same job with far less power draw.
Before buying, check the fixture's wattage limit and the physical tube size and cap type it accepts, since halogen tubes are not interchangeable across fittings. Also confirm the fixture is rated for the heat this lamp produces and that it is mounted where the tube cannot be touched or covered. Compared with LED alternatives, halogen tubes are cheaper to buy but use much more electricity and run far hotter, so weigh running cost against the lower upfront outlay. Available on Sokonia.
