Tronic Smart Extension with 3 USB Ports, 13A

Our review

This is a Wi-Fi enabled extension lead from Tronic that pairs a 13-amp socket with three USB ports, letting you switch connected appliances on or off remotely through your phone once it is set up on your network. It also works with Alexa and Google Home, so voice control is an option if you already use either assistant. It suits renters, home office users, or anyone who wants a lamp, fan, or charger to respond without walking over to the wall. Before buying, check how many USB devices you actually charge at once and whether your Wi-Fi reaches the spot where the extension will sit, since a weak signal can make remote control unreliable. Compare it with plain smart plugs, which usually control one socket only, and with extensions that lack USB ports. If you need several USB points and one switchable mains socket in a single unit, this covers that combination; if you need every socket to be independently smart, a different setup may fit better.
