Tronic Waterproof 13A Single Socket, IP65 Grey PVC

Our review

This is a single 13-amp socket from Tronic, built in grey PVC and rated IP65, which means it is sealed against dust and protected against water projected from a nozzle. It runs on AC 220 to 240 volts and measures 90mm by 90mm, so it is a compact square unit rather than a large outdoor enclosure. It suits anyone wiring a socket into a garage, workshop, garden wall, laundry area or other spot where moisture and grit are a concern. Before buying, confirm your wiring is 220 to 240V and that a 13A circuit is appropriate for what you plan to plug in. Check the mounting surface and whether your existing back box matches the 90mm square footprint, and think about whether you need one socket or a double. Compare against standard unsealed sockets, which cost less but offer no IP protection, and against higher-rated outdoor units if the location faces direct hose spray. The one-year warranty is worth noting.
