Tronic MCCB 100A 3 Pole MB Range Molded Case Circuit Breaker

Our review

This is a molded case circuit breaker from Tronic, rated at 100 amps with three poles, part of the MB range. It is the kind of device you step up to when the current on a circuit is simply too much for a miniature circuit breaker to carry, which is common on larger distribution boards, feeder lines and equipment that draws serious power. Three poles means it can switch and protect a three-phase supply, so it suits workshops, pumps, small industrial panels and commercial installations rather than a domestic lighting circuit. Before buying, confirm your system voltage, the fault level at the point of installation, and the trip curve your design calls for, because a breaker of this size has to match the cable and the load behind it. Compare it with other 100A three-pole MCCBs on breaking capacity, terminal size and mounting, and check that your enclosure and busbar arrangement can take the frame. If you are unsure whether an MCCB or a smaller breaker is right, the deciding factor is usually the load current and the prospective short-circuit current, not the brand.
