Sony HT-S400 2.1ch Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer, 330W

Our review
The HT-S400 is a two-piece audio setup: a soundbar handling the centre and stereo channels, plus a separate subwoofer that connects wirelessly so you only need power near it. Sony rates total output at 330W and highlights clearer dialogue, which matters most if you struggle to follow speech on TV dramas and news. It suits renters and smaller living rooms where a full surround system with rear speakers is impractical. Before buying, check your TV has an HDMI ARC port, since that single-cable connection is the simplest way to hook it up; optical is the usual fallback on older sets. Compare it against 3.1 or 5.1 alternatives if you want a dedicated centre channel or rear speakers, and against cheaper 2.0 bars if bass depth matters less to you. The wireless subwoofer is the main reason to step up to this model rather than a bar-only option. Available on Sokonia.
