Philips Dry Iron 1000W Non-Stick Soleplate PDI1172

Our review

This is a corded dry iron from Philips, rated at 1000W, with a non-stick soleplate and a temperature control dial. Because it is a dry iron rather than a steam model, it relies on heat and pressure alone, so it suits people who mostly press cottons, linens and blends, or who already use a spray bottle or damp cloth while ironing. The lightweight, ergonomic build makes it easier on the wrist during longer sessions, and the non-stick coating helps it glide over fabrics instead of dragging. Before buying, check whether you actually need steam output, since that is the main thing separating this from a steam iron. Also consider the soleplate material you prefer and how much weight you are comfortable handling. Compare it with steam irons and heavier models in the same power range to see which fits your routine.
