The frosted glass softens the output, so it tends to read as ambient rather than harsh task lighting.
Before buying, check the ceiling height and the drop you need, since a pendant of this kind hangs into the room and can crowd a low ceiling or sit too high over a tall one. Measure the table or area it will centre on, and confirm the fitting's dimensions and weight suit your ceiling fixing.
