Tronic FP 6000 Addressable Photoelectric Smoke Detector

Our review

This is an analogue addressable photoelectric smoke detector from Tronic, listed as the FP 6000. It is microprocessor controlled and designed to connect to TRONIC 2-wire addressable fire detection control and indicating equipment, so it is aimed at installers and building operators working within that ecosystem rather than at someone wanting a standalone battery alarm for a home. Photoelectric sensing generally responds well to smouldering fires that produce visible smoke, which is why it is common in corridors, offices and similar spaces. Before buying, confirm your panel is a compatible TRONIC addressable system and that the detector's address can be set and recorded on your loop plan. Also check whether a base is included, since addressable heads often need one. Compared with conventional detectors, addressable units let the panel identify the exact device in alarm, which speeds up locating a fire but requires correct commissioning. If your system is not TRONIC addressable, this unit will not suit it.
